In a heartfelt Twitter announcement, the 55-year-old superstar cited her ongoing battle with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological condition, as the reason she can no longer proceed with the remaining stops of her Courage World Tour.
Though clearly disheartened, Celine is resilient and fully committed to her recovery. Her medical team is closely monitoring her condition, and her official website has confirmed that full refunds for all canceled performances will be issued.
In the emotionally charged post, Celine conveyed her regret at disappointing her devoted fans but emphasized the necessity of putting her health at the forefront. She recognized the complex logistics of touring and assured fans that she won’t rush her return to the stage until she’s truly prepared.
Despite her diagnosis, which came to public attention last December, Celine remains steadfast in her resolve to regain her strength and entertain her audience once again. The ailment causes severe muscle spasms, significantly hampering her singing and performance abilities.
The European leg of the Courage World Tour, set to kick off in Amsterdam this August and wrap up in London by April 2024, is the most affected by the recent announcement.
Prior to the pandemic, the songstress had already successfully completed 52 shows across North America. The tour was particularly significant as it marked Celine’s first extensive global performances in a decade, as well as her first venture without the guidance of her late husband-manager, René Angélil.
